Cascade Brewing Launches Barrel Exchange Program With Wicked Weed

Cascade Brewing Launches Barrel Exchange Program With Wicked Weed

From a press release 7/24:
This Friday, 7/24 at 6 PM, we will debut the first of many releases in an ongoing series of collaborations we are calling the Barrel Exchange Program. We will trade full oak barrels of beer with other sour beer producers around the country to create rare and unique collaboration blends. The first release is “Wicked Red,” a collaboration with Wicked Weed Brewing in Asheville, NC. Wicked Red features a 50/50 blend of Wicked Weed’s sour red ale (a component of their Oblivion) with our Blackberry Wheat. Tart and complex, this extremely rare and limited release won’t last long! 7.8% ABV
As of now, Wicked Weed do not have proper distribution in our market, but we’ve been seeing steady drops of Cascade which gives us hope we will get our hands on some of this series!

Thursday August 13th:

  • Pop the Cap 10 Year Anniversary: We’ll be celebrating a huge turning point in NC’s beer scene. Prior to the legislation change, NC was limited to beers 6% and under. A committed group of beer people formed Pop The Cap, including our own Lector Bennett, petitioned the state to repeal the Prohibition-era law. All of the beers we’ll have on tap have some significance to us and our involvement in the movement, Pop The Cap. Fullsteam’s founder, Sean Lilly Wilson, was hugely instrumental in the movement and so we’ll have two of his beers on tap: his flagship Lager and his Paycheck Pils. One of the breweries we patiently awaited was the legendary Trappist, Chimay. We managed to score a keg of their Dorée, a limited spiced pale ale. And though this seems to not have much connection to the history, we’ll have 21st Amendment’s Brew Free! or Die IPA. Because, Brew Free or Die.
